The Dartmouth College Staff Association was active at Dartmouth during the 1980's and 1990's as staff members came together to discuss a variety of issues, trying to build concensus as well as open a dialogue with College administration about staff concerns. It was hoped that by working together, staff might present a united viewpoint and that staff input might be sought, and perhaps implemented, in various administrative initiatives at the highest levels of the College.
One of the more long-standing DCSA successes was the TRADER which has been serving the Dartmouth community, including DHMC employees, since the early 1990's. The TRADER has always been managed by volunteers and has gone through several structural plans: from weekly Blitzmail Bulletins, to web support on the www.crossett.net website in an HTML format to provide opportunity for Dartmouth employees who had home-businesses to make them available along with regular ads, to a new form-based dropdown menu and email verification plan, to the current Web Authorization format.
It is anticipated that the TRADER may at some point be opened up to the community at large.
Jonathan Crossett has been the developer of the newest two iterations of the DCSA Trader. Patricia Crossett continues to manage the TRADER as health permits.
